Improvements to Wiki
« on: July 14, 2013, 11:08:06 AM »
Hello!

I've just downloaded TinyCore and set it up in VirtualBox (host system: Windows 8 Pro 64-bit).
It runs perfectly but I faced some problems which are not mentioned in the wiki thus I thought that I share them here and someone could add them to the Wiki page: //wiki.tinycorelinux.net/wiki:virtualbox.

  • You have to deactivate the VT-x/AMD-V hardware virtualization in the Acceleration tab in the System group:
Otherwise, you might be getting VT-x feature locked or unavailable in MSR (VERR_VMX_MSR_LOCKED_OR_DISABLED).
  • If you have activated the mouse integration and you're facing the problem that your mouse leaves the VM even when you aren't yet at the left border of the window, deactivate the mouse integration!

Regards,
ComFreek

This looks to me like VirtualBox made the wrong choice and it doesn't have much to do with TinyCore specifically.  I presume the warning/error message came from the host OS (Windows) or hypervisor (VirtualBox) and not the guest OS (TinyCore).  I'm guessing your host either doesn't have Intel VT-x/AMD-V OR it's not actually turned on.  Care to share the make and model of the PC and the exact model number of the CPU?
