[solved] xorg vs. xvesa
« on: December 01, 2012, 02:40:31 PM »
I've got a new-ish monitor with a recommended optimal resolution of 1920x1080. So far I've been using it with xvesa but none of the available resolutions there really match. Would xorg be a better choice? What's involved in setting that up? I don't know jack about xorg so apologies if there's already a thread/wiki about this. Thanks.

Just install Xorg (basic, not the 3D accelerated) without any configuration. In most cases it can configure itself automatically (so called confless mode). Give it a try.
