hiro:
Just upgraded my thinkpad (Intel 945GM) to 4.x

1. when I switch to console the console stays black. when I switch back to Xorg I can see the console's text for a flash though. Xorg itself is always working.

2. How do you use VO_XV in mplayer?

Rich:
Hi hiro
If it's not installed, maybe you need  graphics-KERNEL.tcz?

tinypoodle:
mplayer -vo xv

This is more a request to fix the documentation than a support request. :D

curaga:
All the mplayer builds support XV, I believe. For Xorg, please post your Xorg.0.log.

One thing that changed from 3.x is that Xorg no longer depends on all the drivers (more modularization was requested), so if you don't pick a driver, it's using vesa.
