unfortunately latest version which has oss support is 2.0.0.72
you must select item 5 during skype installation via getskype

The only barriers that can stop you are the ones you create yourself.

may be this is problem of specific hardware
but it was not worked on my old computer
although of course it is worth to try :)

AFAIK in the specific case of skype that might require the invocation of pulse audio, at least to make mic capture work.

Not , yet .
I got tangled in lot of options this flexible distro offers.

I realized that abnormis and curaga build extensions too.
'Mplayer--nodeps' is my favourite .
I have not seen portable version of mplayer for linux anywhere .
In windows you get portable apps for most installable softwares , as a result you can carry  them and run on any windows OS system .
This is distro specific but still near that.
