I have just completed building a web server on a usb stick using  tinycore_v4.0rc2 and the latest version of Xampp (1.75 beta).
I ported my entire internal web site including a phpbb3 forum and comment system to the web server. I'm happy to report everything is working as far as I can tell at this early stage.
Xampp now includes the following:
Code: [Select]
[2011-09-12] XAMPP for Linux 1.7.5

This version of XAMPP includes:
    - Apache 2.2.20
    - MySQL 5.5.15
    - PHP 5.3.8
    - Perl 5.10.1
    - ProFTPD 1.3.3e
    - phpMyAdmin 3.4.4
    - OpenSSL 1.0.0c
    - GD 2.0.1
    - Freetype 2.1.7
    - libjpeg 6b
    - libpng 1.2.12
    - gdbm 1.8.0
    - zlib 1.2.3
    - expat 1.95.2
    - Sablotron 1.0
    - libxml 2.7.6
    - libxslt 1.1.26
    - Ming 0.4.3
    - Webalizer 2.21-02
    - pdf class 009e
    - ncurses 5.7
    - mod_perl 2.0.5
    - FreeTDS 0.63
    - gettext 0.17
    - IMAP C-Client 2007e
    - OpenLDAP (client) 2.4.21
    - mhash library 0.8.18
    - mcrypt library 2.5.7
    - cURL 7.21.0
    - SQLite 2.8.17 (for PHP4 + PHP5)
    - SQLite 3.6.16 (for PHP5 PDO SQLite)
    - libapreq 2.12
    - eAccelerator 0.9.6.1
    - FPDF 1.6
    - bzip2 (library) 1.0.5
    - PBXT 1.0.11-6-pre-ga
    - PBMS 0.5.15 (but disabled)
    - PBMSlib 0.5.15
    - ICU4C Library 4.2.1

The only problems I encountered were the remapping of usb to sdx assignments due the hard disk now being assigned to sda and the app audit becoming "unresponsive" for extended periods (30 seconds or so) after building the database.

Next up is performance testing.

edit:
I'm using the following extensions: bash, Dropbear, ipv6-3.0.3-tinycore.tcz, pci-utils.tcz, x0vncserver.tcz, Samba3, vbetool.tcz, wget, penssl-0.9.8.tcz

nbd-client is still missing from busybox.
This makes it difficult to use nbd for the tce directory.
Can we get it added to the next release candidate?

Hi,

I noticed that if I update to say 3.8.4 from 3.6, and run tce-update, after the first run of tce-update, my web server (busy box httpd) freaks out for whatever reason, and won't run any python CGI.

If I go and run tce-update again, it will download a few dependencies, and the problem is fixed ...

Is this a bug with tce-update for the 3.X series or has it been fixed for the 4.X series -- i.e. I can drop in microcore4.X and the new bzImage, tce-update once and everything will work ?

I have put this candidate on my eeePC and my Dell laptop, both working fine. And suspend (echo "mem" > /sys/power/state) is fully working again, hooray! :)

roberts, could you probably fix this in the next release?
http://forum.tinycorelinux.net/index.php/topic,11319.0.html
that was a problem i experienced in 3.8.4, it seams the script is expecting some "users" but it's not found
there's nothing you can do to change the catalyst application since its closed source, maybe a boot flag that will enable the "users" whatever that is

Not base-related, it's one of the gnu utils. Use the provides search to see which extension has it.
