usb and pci tools
« on: July 06, 2011, 09:53:35 AM »
installed pci-utils.tcz and usb-utils.tcz today.
Tried using lspci and got "command not found found"

Checked dependencies and noticed that libusb.tcz and libpci.tcb were not included in the install. So I installed them.

Tried sudo update-usbids.sh and sudo update-pciids and recieved "command not found" on both.

tried lspci again and it got "command not found".

Checked the forum and did not see any mention of changes to the utilities in progress. Noticed updates made in June.

Is there something else I need to do.

I just tried both extensions and they work fine. How did you download/install the extensions - if you used apps browser, then the deps (libusb, libpci) should have downloaded automatically?

What happens if you try "/usr/local/sbin/lspci" or "/usr/local/bin/lsusb"?

/usr/local/sbin/lspci worked

I did use Apps to install both tools. the libs are there and lspci works.

Just now removed the tools and reinstalled and all is well including the libs.  Not sure what happened.

I had been experimenting with a live meego usb install on this Asus 900a with a frugal tcl install. Coincidentally, my backlight just failed on my display.

I should have installed on the tools on another tcl frugal computer for more info.

Sorry about the inconvenience and thanks for you instant help,
Tony
